Data visualization is one of the most effective tools we as scientist have available to communicate the complex relationships we usually encounter in our research.
The need for effective and clear science communication has never been more apparent than in the current COVID19 era, where researchers are relied upon more than ever to inform policy makers.
In this blog post I want to take a look back at the beginnings of data visualization in the domain of public health and elaborate on two of the most famous pioneers.

Lewis and Oliver Pain. The group works in the department of Medical and Molecular Genetics, Faculty of Life Sciences and Medicine at King’s College London.

I don’t know which one had a bigger impact on us as new PhD students joining the Kuchenbaecker lab: having the chance to attend our first genetic conference and gain a deeper understanding of the Bayesian genetic fine mapping, polygenic risk scores and GWAS applications in various diseases across multiple populations, or learning to plan our time accordingly to enjoy a 5minutes delicious dinner on our way to the train station and still miss the train back to London?
